Anthony Merivale

Anthony fell into the music industry after working in one of the major banks for a short time. He soon realised that it wasn’t the industry for him and started working with musicians in 2010. For over 15 years now, Anthony has built on his accounting expertise and passion in the music industry working with some of the biggest Australian artists, ensuring their business is done right.

After completing a double degree in B.Bus Accounting & B.Bus Management and working at NAB head office in Melbourne in the Global Operations team – Anthony saw an opportunity to combine his passion, with his profession and since then has accumulated over 15 years’ experience as an accountant in the music & entertainment industry.

For the last 6 years Anthony has worked in the Music and Entertainment Business Management Team at The Gild Group. Successfully building out his team while actively looking after some of the biggest and best musicians and entertainers in the biz.  This includes providing assistance to foreign artists touring Australia with their Australian taxation obligations and assisting them with obtaining Foreign Resident Withholding Variations (FRWVs) and lodgement of their Australian tax returns.

• Strong problem solving and lateral thinking skillset, excellent attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills required due to mutli-level stakeholder involvement across most clients
• 6 years’ experience in the BM side, with 15+ years as an accountant – equipped with intricate knowledge of the industry itself as well as the financial/accounting side of the industry too.

• 15+ years in accounting
• 10+ years of music/entertainment business management
• 10+ years in foreign resident withholding variations and foreign tax returns for touring artists in Australia
