MIQ Program Overview

The Made in Queensland (MIQ) Program is a flagship $121.5 million Queensland Government initiative designed to elevate small and medium-sized manufacturers across Queensland. Through matched funding, the program helps businesses adopt advanced technologies and implement innovative practices that boost productivity, drive international competitiveness, and create sustainable, high-skill jobs for the future.

Eligible Applicants

To qualify for MIQ Round 7 funding, applicants must:

  • Be a Queensland-based business with a primary focus on manufacturing (Division C of the ANZSIC 2006).
  • Have between 5 and 200 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees.
  • Be registered for GST with an active ABN.
  • Ensure their proposed projects meet MIQ’s strategic objectives and eligibility criteria.
  • Not exceed an aggregate funding request of $2.5 million per applicant.

Eligible Projects

Projects eligible for funding under Round 7 of the MIQ program should focus on advancing Queensland’s manufacturing capabilities through the adoption of Industry 4.0 and 5.0 technologies, that demonstrate clear outcomes that contribute to the growth, productivity, and competitiveness of the local manufacturing sector, including:

  • Implementation of advanced technologies such as robotics, automation, and smart manufacturing systems.
  • Upgrading or modernising production processes to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs.
  • Enhancing sustainability by adopting energy-efficient practices and reducing environmental impact.
  • Reshoring manufacturing capabilities back to Queensland that strengthen local supply chains and reduce reliance on offshore production.
  • Developing or improving products and processes that differentiate the business in both domestic and international markets​.

MIQ Key Dates

Application guidelines are available online. Applications officially opened on 24 September 2024 and will close at 1:00 pm on 24 January 2025.
